Guidelines and ProceduresThe following Guidelines and Procedures specify information that Buncombe County occupancy tax-collecting accommodations and Asheville-area attractions, restaurants, golf courses and retail establishments may submit for inclusion within the following Asheville-area and State of North Carolina tourism publications:
· The Official 2008 Asheville Visitor Guide (OAVG), published by the Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau as a planning and decision-making resource for travel consumers.
· An online OAVG at www.ashevillevisitorguide.com. This interactive guide allows viewers to flip pages using their cursors, print any page or page range instantly, save or send the guide to a friend, or post individual notes and tags to guide pages.
· 2008 NC Travel Guide, the State of North Carolina's official tourism publication.
· 2008 NC Golf Guide, a publication of the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development.
Properties that meet eligibility requirements will also be listed on www.exploreasheville.com, Asheville's official tourism website, and www.visitnc.com, the State of North Carolina's official tourism website.
Any tourism-related business that meets the eligibility requirements for listing inclusion is eligible to purchase a display ad in the OAVG. All display advertisers will receive a free listing in the applicable information source.
Eligibility for inclusion varies by publication or tourism resource. The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority (BCTDA) reserves the right to determine whether an entity is tourism-related. Please consult the following guidelines for more information:
Accommodations: Buncombe County OCCUPANCY Tax-Collecting Properties - Free Listing
All Buncombe County occupancy tax-collecting accommodations will receive a complimentary listing (complete contact information and 225 character – with spaces – description).Add or Update Your Listing
You may add or update your complimentary listing using the Asheville Convention & Visitor's Bureau's (ACVB) password-protected property content management tool at http://www.exploreasheville.com/login.asp. Please contact Heather Backer, hbacker@exploreasheville.com, if you require a unique user ID and password or have forgotten either.
Accommodations: Buncombe County properties who do not collect occupancy tax (1 TO 4 ROOMS)
Properties such as bed & breakfast inns, cabins, cottages, chalets, villas, hostels and vacation rentals located in Buncombe County from which occupancy taxes are NOT collected can participate in the OAVG (print and online versions) and on www.exploreasheville.com (one category) by purchasing a display advertisement in the guide. Display advertisements range in size from 1/12 to a full page.
Independent of participation in the OAVG, Buncombe County accommodations may receive a free listing in the 2008 NC Travel Guide and on www.visitnc.com provided they meet the inclusion requirements set by the N.C. Division of Tourism.
Purchase a Display Advertisement
Display advertisements will be sold between June 4 and August 10, 2007. Please contact Dianna Jackson Pierce for details.
Ineligible Properties
The following properties and business enterprises are not eligible for inclusion in the OAVG (print and online versions) or www.exploreasheville.com:
· Accommodations located outside Buncombe County.
· Not-for-profit meeting facilities with on-site accommodations that are exempted by law from collecting Buncombe County occupancy taxes.
· Internet-based businesses whose primary business is to book real-time online accommodation reservations.
Attractions
The following eligibility requirements apply:
· Attractions/activities in Buncombe County or within 100 miles of Asheville (in North Carolina) that are designated 501(c) (3) or are state, city or federally run are eligible for a free listing (contact information and 225 character – with spaces – description) in the OAVG (print and online versions).
· Attractions/activities in Buncombe County that are not designated 501(c)(3) and not state, city or federally run are eligible to purchase a listing (contact information and 225 character – with spaces - description) in the OAVG (print and online versions) for $350.
· Attractions/ outside of Buncombe County, but within 100 miles of Asheville (in North Carolina) that are not designated a 501(c)(3) and not city, state or federally run are eligible to purchase a listing (contact information and 225 character – with spaces - description) in the OAVG (print and online versions) for $450.
For those that offer accommodations, the descriptive copy will be limited to the promotion of the attraction/activity portion of the business.
Independent of participation in the OAVG, Buncombe County attractions will receive complimentary listings on www.exploreasheville.com and www.visitnc.com. All eligible Western North Carolina attractions will receive complimentary listings on www.exploreasheville.com. Buncombe County attractions may also receive a free listing in the 2008 NC Travel Guide, provided they meet the inclusion requirements set by the N.C. Division of Tourism. (Inclusion on www.visitnc.com does not guarantee inclusion in the 2008 NC Travel Guide.)

Restaurants
All non-fast-food restaurants located in Buncombe County are eligible to receive a complimentary basic listing (name, cuisine, street address and phone) in the following guides and online resources:
· The OAVG (print and online versions);
· www.exploreasheville.com; and
The ACVB reserves the right to select a representative sample of Buncombe County restaurants for inclusion in the OAVG (print and online versions).
The following options are also available:
· Restaurants that meet eligibility requirements may upgrade their free basic listing to include a 225 character – with spaces – description, website and color logo for $350.
· Restaurants located outside of Buncombe County but within 100 miles of Asheville (in North Carolina) may purchase a display advertisement (sizes range from 1/12 to a full page) in the OAVG. As part of the display price, a free expanded listing is included.
For restaurants that offer accommodations, descriptive copy will be limited to the promotion of the restaurant portion of their business only.

· Retail shops, day spas, entertainment clubs and private campgrounds located in Buncombe County may purchase a listing (contact information and a 225 character – with spaces – description) in the OAVG (print and online versions) at a cost of $350.
· Retail shops located outside Buncombe County but within 100 miles of Asheville (in North Carolina) may purchase a display advertisement (sizes range from 1/12 to a full page) in the OAVG (print and online versions). As part of the display price, a free listing is included.

· Golf courses located in Buncombe County that are non-profit 501(c)(3), and/or are state- or city-run, are eligible for a complimentary listing (contact information and a 225 character – with spaces – description) in the OAVG (print and online versions).
· Golf courses located in Buncombe County that are not 501(c)(3) and are not state- or city-run may purchase a listing (contact information and a 225 character – including spaces - description) in the OAVG (print and online versions) for $350.
· Golf courses located outside Buncombe County, but within 100 miles of Asheville (in North Carolina), may purchase a listing (contact information and 225 character – including spaces – description) in the OAVG (print and online versions) for $450. As part of the display price, a free listing is included.
For those golf courses offer accommodations, the descriptive copy will be limited to the promotion of the golf portion of the business only.
